Discipline-specific Conceptual Skills

Discipline-specific Conceptual Skills will be best developed through engagement with disciplinary and interdisciplinary seminar series and reading groups, auditing master’s modules, and attendance at conferences. Your supervisor will be best placed to help you identify appropriate development opportunities of this kind.

It may be possible for PhD students to audit modules at other institutions within the college. If you identify a module at another ‘Crafting Care’ University (Lancashire, Liverpool, or RNCM) then contact the module convener to discuss whether it would be possible to join the course. The cost of travel to attend modules at other institutions can be reimbursed from the Research Training Support Grant.

The Research Training Support Grant can also fund attendance at relevant conferences. Please note there are caps on RTSG expenses, and it is down to students – in liaison with their supervisors – to decide how to prioritise conference attendance.
